At Skare Spine & Performance, our goal is simple: give people the kind of care we’d want ourselves.

For a lot of patients, that means longer appointments, more hands-on treatment, rehab that actually fits their body, and enough time to explain what’s going on instead of rushing through a visit.

Unfortunately, that’s hard to do inside the traditional insurance model.

Insurance companies often decide how long appointments should be, what treatments are covered, and how many visits someone is allowed to have each year. That system works for some clinics, but it doesn’t match how we want to care for patients.

No insurance middlemen.

No visit caps.

No surprise bills.

Just comprehensive, evidence-based treatment designed around you — not a billing code.

That’s why we operate as a cash-pay clinic.

Here's What Insurance-Based Visits Actually Look Like

If you've ever left a chiropractic or PT appointment wondering, "That's it?" You're not alone. Insurance dictates what your provider can do, how long they can spend with you, and when you're "done."

5-10 Minute Visits - Insurance reimburses per code, not per minute. Most in-network chiropractors are pressured to see patients every 5-10 minutes to keep the lights on. That leaves almost no time for assessment, rehab, or education.

Limited Treatment Options- Insurance companies decide which treatments they'll cover — not your doctor. Shockwave therapy, dry needling, BFR training, and functional rehab are often excluded entirely, even when they're the best option for your condition.

Visit Caps and Pre-Authorizations- Your plan may limit you to 12-20 visits per year, regardless of what you actually need. Need more? Prepare for phone calls, paperwork, and delays while waiting for authorization.

Hidden Costs Add Up- Copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and surprise out-of-network charges. Many patients end up paying $40-60 per visit in copays alone — for a fraction of the care they'd get at our clinic.

The Real Value of a $70 Visit

If you were to receive each of these services separately at insurance-based clinics, you'd pay for multiple appointments across multiple providers. Here, you get it all in one visit with one doctor.

Follow-Up Visit: $70 Everything below — included in every visit as needed:

HSA and FSA Accepted. Your Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account can be used to pay for visits at Skare Spine & Performance. We also provide superbills so you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company.

This Model Works Best For People Who Want...

Faster Results:
Multiple modalities in one visit mean fewer total appointments to get better. Most patients see significant improvement in 4-6 visits.

The Right Treatment, Not the Covered Treatment.
Your care plan is based on what your body needs — not what an insurance adjuster approves.

A Real Relationship With Their Doctor.
You see Dr. Skare every single visit. He knows your history, your goals, and your body. No rotating providers.

No Billing Surprises.
You know exactly what you'll pay before you walk in the door. No explanation of benefits letters. No surprise charges three months later.

Common Questions About Cash-Pay

Can I still use my insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider. We provide superbills after each visit that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many of our patients receive partial reimbursement depending on their plan's out-of-network benefits. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network chiropractic benefits.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Chiropractic care is an eligible expense for both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). We accept HSA/FSA debit cards at checkout.

Is $70 per visit really cheaper than using insurance?

For many patients, yes. Consider: if your copay is $40-50 and you need separate appointments for chiropractic ($40 copay), PT ($40 copay), and soft tissue work ($40 copay), you're already paying $120+ for what we deliver in a single $70 visit. Plus, there's no deductible to meet first, no pre-authorization delays, and no cap on visits.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on your condition, but because we combine multiple treatments per visit, most patients need fewer total visits compared to traditional single-modality care. A typical acute issue may resolve in 4-8 visits. We'll give you an honest estimate at your first appointment.
